    Always found it fascinating how in spite of being the epitome of a relax, loose swing, when he makes contact with the ball the head of the racquet doesn’t even shake

      Has something to do with the high stability of the pro staff

    • @andresgarcia6337
      @andresgarcia6337 9 днів тому

      @@samarkand_nights absolutely, I love that about the pro staff. However, in his case it doesn’t even flinch when hitting a fast or heavy ball. I wonder if the amount of lead tape he adds to 12 o clock also has something to do with it. I’ve added to 3 and 9 but I still don’t achieve that level of “ firmness” against heavy balls

    • @samarkand_nights
      @samarkand_nights 9 днів тому

      @@andresgarcia6337 people seem to disagree about the extent to which Roger customized his rackets beyond the RF version sold to the public. He does have the ability for Wilson to make whatever he wants so I’m not sure how much weight he’s adding beyond the RFversion that’s sold in stores.

    • @andresgarcia6337
      @andresgarcia6337 8 днів тому

      @@samarkand_nights I wasn’t aware of this disagreement or debate to be honest. I went by what a UA-camr who has a racquet used by Federer showed. He compared it to the retail version ( the rf 97 2015) and it was extremely interesting to see the differences. I don’t remember everything but there were differences in the butt cup, shape of the head ( rounder) and weight. He showed about 3 grams of lead tape at 12 under the grommet. Perhaps these modifications were solely on the RF v10 ( 2015) and the RF v 11 (2017) already included these modifications in the general model as you point out.

    He's just warming up here and he has a gear or two above this. Yes, effortless and he is one of the best servers in history with a great combination of placement, speed and spins. He had a tremendous 2nd serve with tons of movement.

      He is just warming up and finding the rythm. It was easier for him to do this kind of routine before real serves. Just concentrating to toss, flow and being relaxed.

    I had to come back to the best to get my motion back. If you practice this motion with a non of balls and just trust the looseness you can improve your serving exponentially very quickly. What I really hate at the club level is the lack of desire to get better. As a former competitive player I put no stake in matches that have no stake. I want to hit a good fluid strong serve but most just want to get it in with maybe a little interest. This just goes to show that the power comes from the fluidity. He’s not serving bombs. He’s just in a very comfortable strong serving pocket.

    I once practiced with a retired 40 year old challenger level player who took it easy on me. I was in my early 30s and beating most players at my club. He wore me down in 3 minutes. I’d be beaten down now after 30 seconds of this guys hitting. This guy is a BEAST

    i think Federer's hitting partner did a good job. he was consistent, even on some pretty hard shots from Federer. that's all you can really ask and i'm sure Roger was happy with that. he has suffered, in a good spirits, much worse!
